Everyone Needs to Know about this Free Mail Service

As the country continues its adjustment to our new normal — virtual meetings, social distancing, and the six-foot rule — we’re all looking for new ways to do our part. This little-known service from United States Postal is completely free and dovetails nicely into our new normal.

It’s Called Informed Delivery

Intended to manage mail when people travel or for those fortunate to have second homes, Informed Delivery is working wonders these days. Simply put, the services gives you a digital preview of any mail coming to you and allows you to manage any packages scheduled to arrive in the near future. Grayscale images are provided for letter-sized pieces of mail processed through USPS’ automated equipment, making it a great workaround if you’re fretting about mail being delivered. You can check delivery status of pending packages, leave delivery instructions if you won’t be around, and even schedule redeliveries if you miss one.

Signing up is quick and easy. Create your online account, verify your identity and address with a mailed activation code, and start receiving notifications. You can view notifications on your secure online dashboard via any smartphone, tablet, or computer, and set up email and/or text messages to track delivery status of packages.

Now is the Time

A service like this is something that may have been on your to-do list for ages. If you’re like most of us, you probably have more time on your hands these days. Spend some of it getting Informed Delivery set up — you’ll be glad you did.
